More information
What should I wear?
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on – it should wash out, but we can’t guarantee it! We’d really recommend trimming your nails beforehand if you can. If that’s not possible, don’t worry – we’ll work around it. One non-negotiable: hair must be tied up at all times — even just for a photo. We really don’t want anyone’s hair getting caught in the wheel!
Physical health
Wheel throwing involves physical strength, concentration and mobility. If you have any concerns about your mobility or physical health, please get in touch before booking. The pottery wheel is a piece of mechanical equipment and should be used appropriately.
Taster Throwing is safe for pregnant women – it’s entirely at your own discretion based on your health and mobility, but please feel free to contact us with any questions before you book.
Can I film the session?
We’re happy to take short clips for you throughout the session so you can put them together afterwards. However, please be mindful that other customers are in the session and our team are in their working environment – they’d rather not be filmed for the entire duration. Please respect that, and respect our team. Thank you!
Cancellation & refunds
We have a 48-hour cancellation and refund policy, including changes to group numbers. Your pot will be ready to collect or paint approximately 1 month after your throwing session. If you’ve opted for the paint add-on, please book your painting session within 3 months of your original throwing date. Please collect within 1 month of your collection date – after this, pots will be donated to charity or recycled.
Glazing & firing
We put a lot of care into every piece, but glazing and firing isn’t an exact science — kilns can be unpredictable, and glaze spotting or the occasional bit of brick dust can occur. It’s one of the charms (and sometimes frustrations!) of working with handmade ceramics. Where we can, we’ll re-fire a piece to fix any issues. In the unlikely event that your pottery cracks or breaks in the kiln, we’ll always offer a replacement voucher.
